My First Counting Book
Published in Library Binding by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (February, 2001)
Authors: Lilian Moore, Garth Williams, and Golden Books Little
Average review score:

The best counting book ever!
This book is wonderful! The pictures are very colorful and peaceful to look at. Just as important, the flow and rhythm of the book is amazingly catching. I have had the entire book memorized for years, and that is without even trying.

I loved the book at 5, and I still love it at 27. I had this book as a kid, and I give it to all my friends who have children.

If you know someone who is learning to count, or someone who is a child at heart, this is the perfect book for them!

Grew up loving this book!
My dad read this book to my sister and I when we were small. We loved it more than any other book out there! The rhymes and illustrations were superior. We all still remember each and every number and group of animals associated with the number. My sister has given this book as a baby gift for years, and now that she is having a baby of her own, she is planning on having the nursery designed with the adorable animals! It is a must read and really helps little kids enjoy both math and reading throughout life!!!

Adorable illustrations!
A bouncing rhyme book. The darling illustrations of Garth Williams enhance this simple counting book, which uses items on a farm to teach counting from 1 to 10. Old fashioned and darling!

Puppy Too Small: Story and Pictures (Golden Naptime Tales)
Published in Hardcover by Golden Pr (June, 1992)
Author: Cyndy Szekeres
Average review score:

Puppy too small
This book was bought for me when I was expecting my second child. This child was autistic. This is the book that helped my son enjoy reading and looking at the pictures. Because my son can't actually read yet he knows the story by heart as well as our actions, especially the ending. I just wish Cindy Skezeres would realize the impact that she's had on my son.

Got a copy and love it!
I recommended this book already, but now my faith has been reaffirmed! My daughter (just six months old now) and I got a copy via Amazon.com for Christmas. Laura doesn't talk yet, of course, but we read books all the time, anyway. I think her favorite (and mine) is Puppy Too Small. There's enough rhythm in the language to keep her happy, and the illustrations are bright and clever enough to bring a smile both to her face and mine.

Great book for kids (and adults)
I gave this book to a friend of mine's kids, and they never got tired of hearing about 'puppy to small'. I wish I had gotten a copy of my own, and hope the author/publisher will reprint some of her older titles, because they are terrific. My friend is holding on to the books for her grandkids, and buys new ones of this author as she finds them. I found them fun to read to kids, and buy several of Cyndy's books to keep on hand as gifts. The moving on recently helped a two-year old with the trauma of moving houses. The author just hits home for kids, with a little fun thrown in!

Santa in Space (Golden Storybook)
Published in Paperback by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (August, 2001)
Authors: Jack Silbert and John Manders
Average review score:

A New Xmas Tradition
A delightfully light-hearted tale of Christmas adventure, "The Christmas Aliens" has become a new Christmas tradition in our family. While most Christmas stories revel in the past, this one encourages children to dream of the Christmases to come when they meet their new friends on planet Krelb! Full of charm and wit, this unusual Christmas tale pleases the entire family.

Wacky, offbeat, charming
By the time Santa Claus emerges from the washing machine, not the chimney, you and your child will be hooked. What a rollicking, foot-stomping wonder of a book! Why aren't more kids reading Mr. Silber's work?

my child has never loved a book this much!
I highly recommend this book to any parent. My infant was clearly engaged. I'd like to see more from this author/illustrator team!

Seeing Zach
Published in Hardcover by Purple Chickie Press (25 August, 1999)
Author: Bebe Kemper
Average review score:

Seeing Zach
A beautifully written and Illustrated book. Very positive and uplifiting. A wise story to help children and adults focus on the truly important aspects and meanings of life and death.

A must have book
Ms. Kemper's thoughtfully written and beautifully illustrated story of a young boy's efforts to cope with the death of his beloved dog Zach is a masterful treatment of the pain and grief that children and adults often experience following such a loss. "Timmy," the story's main character, wondering if he will ever overcome the loss he feels at the prospect of never seeing Zach again, seeks solace and understanding through conversations with his grandmother. In dialog with "Gram," Timmy discovers an important truth: we never really lose the pets (or persons) we love as long as we remember and celebrate the qualities that made us love them--unconditional love, loyalty, getleness, caring. The book is touching--instructional--wonderful! Seeing Zach is a must addition for every home, school and public library!

A Meaningful Book
It is a rare literary achievement when a piece can be written which has real meaning for both adults and children, but Seeing Zach is such a book.

The book imparts a poignant, meaningful and powerful message. The artistry of the beautiful illustrations is splendid. Indeed, the book is a noteworthy literary achievement.

This is our second copy of this book!
I ordered a second copy of this book after the first one was destroyed by rain! We used to read it to my oldest daughter and decided to buy it again after our third child was born... not only does it teach different parts of the body, it is a great way to get your kids moving!

Great Book for Toddlers
This is a fun book for any Elmo fan. It helps teach body parts, as well as coordination, and it's a cute book besides!

excellent introduction to the names of body parts
This is one of my daughter's favorite books because it's very involving in a physical and non-threatening way. You read the text, you show her the movement, she sees the movement depicted, and does it. She had lots of fun and was very interested in learning the names of various body parts.

This is a wonderful book, but not before a nap or bedtime. For that, I'd recommend the related Elmo book "Quiet Time."

Silver Princess, Golden Knight
Published in Paperback by Avon (March, 1993)
Author: Sharon Green
Average review score:

A great fantasy escape for the imaginative!
I always remember this book everytime I yearn for a good read! The male character, Tristan d'Iste, is the perfect, fantastic conjuring of beauty and power that would satisfy the sappy female reader. The character Alexis is the Xena for those females that love to daydream, and the perfect woman for the man who isn't afraid to handle a strong woman. The story is rich with imagination and enough action to keep the reader interested. The fire and dialogue between the two characters is hot enough to make us stop and wish we ( females, at least) could climb into the book. All in all, this book is for the ones who want to escape from the humdrum reality of hard labor and lackluster love lives. We're all free to dream, aren't we?

Excellent Story
This series was not the first I'd read of Sharon Green's work but showed her abilites well. The blend of a good storyline, the two couples with special abilities and their internal and external battles was very well done. The magic and shape shifting was well done. A little too much internal consternation and self-doubts for the females, but it fits the story nicely. In my opinion, this series is only exceeded by her "Blending" series. A good read!

This is a creative and well-written story.
I fell in love with Princess Alexia, the main character, from the start, and was delighted by her spirit and determination. I also appreciated the romance in the book, with its emphasis on partnership. This book has just the right blend of magic, adventure, humor, and love.

Sweet Carolina (Heroines of the Golden West , Book 1Oth))

A Town Full of Heroines
Cantrell, Montana, is the fictional setting for this series of interesting women dealing with the old west. Easy to read and very likable main characters. Has some humor, some romance, and interesting developments.

A must read series!
Excellent reading! Once you read the first book in this series, you will want to read them all! The story is exciting, thrilling, historical and filled with Christian values. It was a pleasure to read.

Pretty Good.
Sweet Carolina is just plainly..sweet.

Carolina goes out west to get some money from her dead brother's shop. First, she hates the West, the heat, the dirt, and the dirty guys out there. So when she arrives she finds out that her brother was a partner with one of those dirty guys. He tries to cheat her out of her share, so she shows him. By owning half of the shop. It doesn't take long for her to find some guys that aren't dirty, and that is when this book truly becomes sweet.

Nothing (Golden Books)

Author: Mick Inkpen

Tissues Required!
This is a lovely, warm book with gorgeous illustrations. I can't seem to get through it without crying, every time. I think it's a wonderful story that will help children with low self-esteem, adoptees, or anyone who has ever missed a bit of their early life -- as well as being a generally delightful book for all who read it. Certainly one of the very best children's books I've encountered.

Heartwarming
This I must say is the most heartwarming of all children's books that I have ever read. Of all of my daughter's books this one is truly my favorite.

Highest recmommendation
Our family really enjoys Mick Inkpen books and this one is a real treasure. The watercolor illustrations are beautiful and fit this sweet story perfectly. I won't retell the tale here since a summary is given above in the editorial review, but I will say that the story is filled with beautiful hope for any child (or adult) who has ever felt like "nothing". My two little girls always enjoy the surprise ending and the illustrations of the "transformation" (I won't say what it is) are done perfectly.

I give this book my highest recommendation.
